Sealey Love Songs

A Dee C. Lee post on this blog? I never thought I'd see the day. *chortle*

Dee C. Lee - Come Hell Or Waters High mp3

Dee C. Lee - The Paris Match mp3

Mildly Interesting Pop Fact 1: Although the above two songs are cover versions - written by Judie Tzuke and Paul Weller respectively - Dee C. Lee wrote the song for which she's most famous herself. Which must have been some kind of consolation, royalties-wise, when Girls Aloud massacred See The Day in 2005. (I've not actually heard the Girls Aloud version, by the way. I'm just assuming they massacred it.)

Mildly Interesting Pop Fact 2: Dee C. Lee's real name is Diane Catherine Sealey. Which kind of makes sense when you think about it. (Although quite what made her think that "Lee" would be a more showbizzy surname than "Sealey" I don't know. Then again, "Dee C. Sealey" would probably have proved a bit cumbersome.)

Mildly Interesting Pop Fact 3: Cheryl Baker of Bucks Fizz's real name is Rita Crudgington. Which has little or nothing to do with the matter in hand, admittedly, but it's a fact I like to trot out whenever possible. Rita Crudgington! *snigger*

Rita's quite amusing,Crudgingtonis funny but it's the combination of these names that really nails it.

The funniest rael name in pop/rock is still Derek Dick. I even had a little snigger there when I typed it.

It is a corker. Actually, I had a mate at school called Barry Dick. Looking back, though, I don't think we gave him quite as much stuck as he probably deserved for having such a comedic name!

Did I ever tell you that I genuinely worked with a Civil Servant called Mike Hunt?

He wasn't the sharpest soul and the hours of tannoy fun were priceless. Particularly when women were involved.
I recall as the draw was made for teams in a darts comp in the club, a woman innocently announced, ... "Oooh I'm playing with Mike Hunt".

And no Kips, he didn't have a brother called Isaac!

I worked with a civil servant called Gordon Bennett. I promise you that's true.

A recruitment consultant I once knew (sorry!) swore blind that he genuinely had an HR Manager on his database called Hugh Jardon.

Guys! 'See The Day' - Girls Aloud. Featuring Nadine!

I knew a Nicholas Haw once. I could start riffing about interesting names from kids at school now but I suspect that would be wrong.

A friend of a friend knows someone with the name Ophelia Balls. Her parents didn't put much thought into naming her, evidently. I'm not making this up.

Thanks for the comments everyone. If they ever make another Carry On film, they'll know where to come to find some cracking character names!

Hi there, I've been trying for years to locate this song by Dee C Lee (Come Hell or Waters High) but to no avail. Then I saw the CD on Amazon but they wouldn't let me buy it due to some copyright stuff ( can only be sold in the UK and US). Finally I found the song on your blog but I think the link for download has expired....I would truly appreciate if you can send it to me via my email- janslimtc@gmail.com
Many thanks and I look forward to hearing from you. Cheers, Jansen
