Three of a Kind #86

Today's Three of a Kind is inspired by hubristic Manchester United winger and unwitting bringer of mirth Cristiano Ronaldo for his spectaculary petulant reaction to being substituted while his team were strolling to yet another routine Premier League victory at the weekend.

Bemusement, anguish, rage, frustration, denial: he experiences the whole lot in a mere forty-seven-seconds during this clip. Really, is this the kind of behaviour anyone over the age of about seven should be indulging in?

(Bananarama's Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye, Sulk by Billy Bragg, Kate Bush's Man With The Child In His Eyes and Bitch Went Nuts by Ben Folds all narrowly missed the cut.)

What an asshole! I have really tired of watching one bunch of petulent millionare tossers playing another bunch of prima donnas. Ever since my kids came home from school with free tickets I've been watching humble Farnborough FC home games and saw a great 0-0 draw (really) against Hemel followed by a tense penalty shootout, which boro won only to blow it in the Playoff final against Gloucester City. This was after they had topped the table for most of the season. As the Hemel fans sang with some justification "Top of the league - you fucked it up" to the tune of Tom Hark.

By bloggy coincidence I considered posting that Viola Wills tune last weekend as a tribute because she passed away last week.

I must admit I hadn't heard about her death till now. What a bummer. :(

Aye, football's become tiresome and predictable at the top end of the Premier League, and the egos (of managers as well as players) are spiralling out of control. There are some godawful teams making up the numbers in that division now, too. Most of them just seem happy to scrape by without getting relegated, and are adopting some of the most negative tactics I've ever seen as a consequence. I'm not sure what the figures are but there seem to have been more nil-nils than ever in the Premier League this season. Not good.

I like the non-league stuff too. Setanta's coverage of the Blue Square/Conference is superb. Play-off final this weekend. Nice!

Well said all round.

The game is slowly choking on its own grubby millions.

There is life beyond the 'Big Boys'.
I visit the likes of York City, Garforth, Guiseley and Farsley Celtic regularly. Afterwards, I enjoy a pie and a pint with the players and fans alike.

The humour is dark, the reality biting and the cameraderie second-to-none.
